How to Unblock Websites

How to Unblock WebsitesWith the growth of the Internet, the number of websites with various purposes and services offered is growing as well. However, you may find that some of the websites are blocked to you for some reason. There are websites that can only be opened from certain locations and if your IP address does not belong to them, access won’t be provided to you. There are websites that your provider blocks and there are websites that, let’s say, your work’s admin is blocking you from accessing so that you don’t waste your time during working hours. No matter what the reason is, you can still access blocked websites; the only trick is to know the right way to do it. Today we will show you the working ways of how to easily unblock blocked websites and for free.

Proxy sites
Using a website to help you unblock websites is a great idea as it is pretty fast and it doesn’t require you to download and install anything on the computer. The trick is to find the right website that will help you with that. While we were searching for free proxy websites, we noticed that some of them can only help you to open the single page you enter, and then you can’t browse the rest of the site. Some anonymous web proxy websites don’t work at all. The services we liked are ProxySite (it also offers you 6 different US IP addresses and 2 European ones), FilterBypass and Unblock Proxy.

We can also recommend checking out the Proxy4free website as they have a pretty impressive list of proxy websites with IP addresses of various countries. We can’t say we tried all of them, but we tested plenty and those we tried worked as promised.

Browser extensions
The next way to access blocked websites is by means of browser extensions. Such extensions don’t take up too much space on your hard drive, are installed rather quickly and can be turned off and on by means of a couple of clicks on their icon right on your browser menu. We can recommend ZenMate extensions that is available for Chrome, Firefox and Opera; for free it can offer IP addresses of Hong Kong, Romania, the US and Germany. If you get a premium account (6.49 to 8.99 Euro per month) you can access more IP addresses.

Browsec can also help you to unblock blocked websites, although it doesn’t offer any settings and for some reason the country of the IP address was detected as the Netherlands which means we weren’t able to access the US IP-based websites unlike with ZenMate. Browsec is available for Chrome, Opera and Firefox.

Remote control/access software
Well, this is one of the best sly tricks of unblocking blocked website, let’s say, from work. The scheme is as follows: install TeamViewer or Join.me both on your home PC and on the computer where the websites are blocked and make sure that both machines are on and the accounts are connected. Use remote desktop software to open the browser on your home computer where nothing is blocked to access any website you wish. We find this way to access block websites to be one of the easiest ways along with web proxy and browser extensions.

Tor browser
Installation of the Tor browser can also help you with hiding and changing the IP address thus entering the blocked websites. However, it requires you to configure some settings so that you can access websites with the IP you need. If you’re looking for safe browsing and you need to unblock blocked websites often, then this browser will be a good solution for you for sure.

VPN software
VPN software is a type of program that connects you to the server where your IP is changed; in most cases you can select the country of your further IP address location manually. You can conceal your IP and retain your anonymity online easily with this kind of program. One of the most well-known programs in this niche is open-source OpenVPN. Yes, it takes a bit of time to configure it, but it works perfectly after you customize the settings. Another pretty popular software is TunnelBear, however the monthly data is limited up to 750 MB in the free account.

Methods that we tried but we don’t recommend:

Google Translate
You can also find information that says Google Translate can help you to unlock blocked websites, but we tried and it didn’t work out. This might be an old trick that doesn’t work anymore and the information is outdated.

Google Cache
Another way to open blocked websites that we’ve read about is Google Cache. It works in the following way: type in the URL of the website you want to open, click the arrow to the right of the URL shown in the results and select the “Cache” option. Yes, we opened a main page of the website, but then you can’t navigate the internal pages of this website. So to use this method you have to copy the link of an internal page you want to go to, paste it into Google search and open its cache manually.

URL shorteners
Usage or URL shorteners turned out to be some kind of an urban legend after all. We tried several various services like that and none of them worked.

We reviewed and tried out all the methods to unblock blocked websites to see which of them worked and which didn’t. The 5 methods we recommend can help you to access websites that are blocked by your provider, by the IP location or by your work admins. Make sure you’re using them wisely and with good intentions.

  1. Im impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog thats both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
